Etobicoke

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Etobicoke is a former municipality within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is reasonably simple to travel in this area. Property owners can rely on public transit to move around in Etobicoke. There are a multitude of rapid transit stations on the Line 2 (Bloor - Danforth) and Meadowvale Express. There is the Mimico, Kipling and Long Branch on the Milton, Lakeshore West and Kitchener. The former municipality is served by over 50 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically around the corner. Etobicoke is also a fairly pleasant part of Toronto for pedestrians; most daily needs are convenient to meet without a car. Etobicoke is fairly suited for biking.

Services

Parents and their kids will find that wherever their home is located in Etobicoke, daycares and schools are close by. Apart from public schools, there are private elementary and secondary schools. As far as eating is concerned, it is usually feasible for home buyers in Etobicoke to buy their groceries by foot. Royal York Road is among the best streets for groceries. Residents are served by over 500 restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

Etobicoke is a good former municipality to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. The greenery in this area is reasonably prominent as the majority of streets have good tree coverage. Reaching parks in the former municipality, such as Humber River Watercourse and King's Mill Park, is very easy since there are over 500 of them nearby for residents to enjoy. This area is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case around one of the railway lines, Highway 401, Queen Elizabeth Way or the airport (Wilson`s Heliport).

Housing

Around 45% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Etobicoke, and the rest of the houses are mainly small apartment buildings and single detached homes. This former municipality is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 60% of the properties in Etobicoke while the remainder are rented. Around one third of properties in this area were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
