Northeast

The neighbourhood of Northeast can be found in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

With many rapid transit stations on the Meadowvale Express, and about 20 nearby bus lines, getting around by public transit is convenient in Northeast. In contrast, walking in this part of the city is not very popular, even though many daily needs can be carried out by walking. The bike is a sometimes poor method of transportation in Northeast as the cycling network is not very well-developed. Nonetheless, cyclists do not encounter significant hills, and certain enjoyable pockets for bicycling exist. On the other hand, this neighbourhood is an extraordinarily convenient part of Mississauga for getting around by car. It is a short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 427, from any home in this neighbourhood, and coming across a parking spot is easy.

Services

Daycares and schools are easy to walk to from anywhere in Northeast. At the secondary level, there are both public and private schools. Concerning food, the nearest supermarket in Northeast is usually only a reasonably short walk away. There are also over 100 restaurants and coffee shops in this part of the city.

Character

One of the highlights of Northeast is its broad selection of green spaces. To be more precise, there are approximately 30 public green spaces nearby for residents to visit, such as Not Yet Named *(SE of Eglington and 403) and Red Oak Plain, which results in them being very easy to access from most locations within this area. However, the majority of streets have bad tree coverage. This part of Mississauga remains relatively quiet, due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, although there can be more noise for those who are closer to Highway 403, Highway 427, the airport (Tarten Heliport) or one of the railway lines.

Housing

In Northeast, around one third of buildings are large apartment buildings, whereas the rest are mainly single detached homes. This part of the city has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of homeowners and renters are about even. About one quarter of homes in this part of Mississauga were built in the 1980s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s.
