Northeast

Northeast is a neighbourhood within Mississauga, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a great means of transportation in Northeast. The street layout is conducive to driving, and it is very convenient to park. Northeast is also transit friendly. For example, homeowners profit from plenty of rapid transit stations on the Meadowvale Express. The neighbourhood is linked by around 20 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most houses. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of Northeast, despite the fact that many daily errands can be run on foot. Biking is also sometimes difficult in this part of the city as the bicycling network is not very comprehensive. Thankfully, there are a limited number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and a few bike-friendly pockets can be found.

Services

It is a rather short walk to get to schools and daycares from most properties for sale in this area. Residents have the choice between public and private high schools. Regarding food, property owners in this neighbourhood will value that a grocery store is always only a rather short walk away. Moreover, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a good number of opportunities, for example on Eglinton Avenue, and house buyers are served by approximately 10 cafes as well.

Character

One of the highlights of Northeast is its vast selection of green spaces. To be more specific, most locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to public green spaces, such as Wildfield Park and Not Yet Named *(East of Creebank Rd Between Eglington and 401), since there are approximately 30 of them close by for residents to relax in, such as King's Park and Red Oak Plain. At the same time, there are very few tree-lined streets. Lastly, this part of Mississauga is relatively quiet, as there are few pedestrians, although those who are closer to one of the railway lines, the airport (Tarten Heliport), Highway 427 or Highway 409 may experience more noise.

Housing

Large apartment buildings are the predominant housing type, representing about one third of dwellings in Northeast, and the rest of the dwellings are mainly single detached homes. This part of the city also has a good selection of housing sizes; it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. Around one quarter of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1980s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s.
