Northeast

Located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Northeast is a neighbourhood within Mississauga, Ontario.

Transportation

Driving is a great mode of transportation in Northeast. Most of the street network is well suited for cars, and coming across a place to park is generally easy. With plenty of rapid transit stations on the Meadowvale Express, and approximately 20 nearby bus lines, the public transit system in Northeast is also reasonably good. Moving around by bicycle is occasionally difficult in Northeast because the cycling network is not very extensive. Nevertheless, some pleasant pockets for bicycling can be found, and bike riders do not encounter serious hills. Walking is also not very popular in Northeast, even though meeting daily needs is easy by walking.

Services

It is typically possible for property owners in this neighbourhood to shop for groceries by walking. Additionally, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a fair number of choices, for example along Eglinton Avenue, and a small selection of coffee shops is available as well. In terms of education, it is a reasonably short walk to get to schools and daycares from anywhere in Northeast. Families have the choice between public and private secondary schools.

Character

Northeast offers a vast selection of green spaces to enjoy. To be more specific, it is very easy to access parks in the neighbourhood, since there are about 30 of them close by for residents to check out, including Red Oak Plain and Philip Pocock Secondary (Cs). Despite the abundance of parks, very few tree-lined streets are present. Since there are few people out and about on the streets, this part of the city remains relatively quiet, although there can be higher levels of noise for those who are near the airport (Tarten Heliport), one of the railway lines, Highway 427 or Highway 403.

Housing

Northeast did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new dwellings in this neighbourhood was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history. In this neighbourhood, roughly one third of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while single detached homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. The split between homeowners and renters is about even. This part of Mississauga has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
