Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, East Cambie is a neighbourhood within Richmond, British Columbia.

Transportation

The bicycle is a fairly good mode of transportation in East Cambie. A majority of the houses for sale in this part of Richmond are located in areas that are also reasonably convenient for those who travel by foot; many daily errands can be run without having to use a car. The car is very often the best method to move around in this neighbourhood. Nearby highways, such as Highway 91, are very easy to reach from any location in East Cambie, and it is convenient to park. In contrast, public transit riders may experience few choices in this neighbourhood by reason of the infrequent service. Nevertheless, property owners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most homes.

Services

It is convenient to get to both a general and a specialty grocery store by walking from anywhere in this area. Furthermore, East Cambie is a fairly good place in which to eat out, and a limited selection of coffee shops is available as well. In terms of education, it is a reasonably short walk to access daycares and schools from most properties for sale in this area. Parents have the choice between public and private schools at both the primary and secondary school level.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy East Cambie. It is very easy to reach green spaces since there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to visit. This part of Richmond is reasonably quiet overall, as the streets are usually quite tranquil - although there are still several louder sections, especially around Highway 91, highway 91 or the railway line.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing roughly one third of dwellings in East Cambie, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the properties in East Cambie while renters occupy the remainder. Around 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1990s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
