Situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, East Richmond is a neighbourhood within Richmond, British Columbia.

Transportation

Getting around by car is especially convenient in this neighbourhood. It is a rather short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 99, from any home in East Richmond, and it is especially convenient to park. In contrast, this area is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily a short walk away. Although a few enjoyable areas for cycling can be found, and it is an even ride to most destinations, the bicycle is a fairly poor means of transportation in East Richmond because there are few bike lanes. It is also impractical for pedestrians to navigate this neighbourhood since meeting day-to-day needs is inconvenient on foot.

Services

Accessing the nearest supermarket on foot is feasible for some, but not all, property owners in East Richmond. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate nearby restaurants. With regards to education, it can be difficult to walk to high schools and primary schools from properties for sale in this part of the city. Additionally, it can be challenging to access daycares as a pedestrian.

Character

There is an extensive selection of green spaces in East Richmond. There are over 50 green spaces close by for residents to unwind in, which makes them easy to access. As there are very few pedestrians, this part of the city remains relatively quiet.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most dwellings in East Richmond, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses. About one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city also has a good choice of housing size options; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
