Sea Island

The neighbourhood of Sea Island can be found in the city of Richmond, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of the city is especially car friendly. Coming across a place to park is easy. On the other hand, the public transit network in Sea Island is not very convenient. Nonetheless, there are a multitude of rapid transit stations on the Canada Line Skytrain. Homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally close by. Cycling is adopted in this neighbourhood because bicycling is facilitated by the generally flat terrain, and there are a good number of bike lanes. Most houses for sale in this part of Richmond are located in places that are not very well-suited for those who travel by foot since meeting daily needs is at times difficult.

Services

Parents and their schoolchildren will find that no matter where their home is located in Sea Island, daycares are close by. In contrast, there are no primary schools and no high schools in this neighbourhood. With respect to food, some, but not all, property owners in Sea Island will reside within walking distance of the closest grocery store. Residents are served by around 40 restaurants and cafes.

Character

There is a great variety of green spaces in Sea Island. There are over 100 parks nearby for residents to explore, making them very easy to get to. Since there are very few people out and about on the streets, this area is relatively calm.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing the vast majority of buildings in Sea Island, and the remaining properties are mainly duplexes. This neighbourhood experienced its biggest construction boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters.
