Saint-Hubert

The borough of Saint-Hubert is part of the city of Longueuil, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Saint-Hubert is amenable to cycling because there are a limited number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and there are a good number of bike lanes. Physically active property owners will also value the quite pedestrian-friendly nature of this borough; meeting daily needs is convenient by walking. The public transit system in this part of the city is not particularly practical. Nevertheless, homeowners can rely on the Gare Longueuil-Saint-Hubert with access to the 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire. There are over 50 bus lines traversing the borough, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. On the other hand, travelling by car is straightforward in this part of Longueuil. Parking is quite easy, and most properties for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to get to on foot from anywhere in Saint-Hubert. In contrast, high schools are not very plentiful and thus tend to require a long walk to get to. Besides public schools, there are private primary and secondary schools. As far as eating is concerned, a fraction of residents in Saint-Hubert may be able to shop for their groceries by walking in one of about 20 stores, while others will have to use another means of transportation. A limited selection of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.

Character

Saint-Hubert is a fairly good borough to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm environment. This borough features a small amount of greenery; more specifically, residents will find that relatively few tree-lined streets are prominent. However, parks, such as Parc de la Cité, are very well-spread out and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to discover, making it easy to get to them. This borough is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case close to one of the 2 airports (Héliport de St-Hubert,Aéroport de St-Hubert), the railway line or Autoroute de l'Acier.

Housing

In Saint-Hubert, roughly half of buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This borough is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 70% of the properties in Saint-Hubert while the rest are rented. Roughly one third of properties in this part of the city were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 2000s.
