Verdun

The borough of Verdun can be found in the city of Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Verdun offers home buyers the choice between a variety of means of transportation. Commuting by public transit is easy in Verdun. In particular, residents can rely on Langelier Station, Verdun Station and De l'Église Station on the Green Line. There are approximately 10 bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. Walking is also quite practical for home buyers in this part of the city; meeting daily needs is easy on foot. The bike is a very good method of transportation in Verdun because there are a limited number of hills to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling infrastructure is good.

Services

It is easy to access both a general and a specialty grocery store by walking from most properties for sale in Verdun. Likewise, those who like to dine in restaurants will have a fair number of opportunities, and a small variety of coffee shops is available as well. In terms of education, it is a reasonably short walk to access primary schools and daycares from most homes for sale in Verdun. On the other hand, high schools are not particularly plentiful and thus tend to require an extended walk to get to.

Character

Verdun offers a calm atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This borough is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be reasonably tranquil - although that is not the case closer to Autoroute Bonaventure or Autoroute 15. Lastly, the greenery in this part of the city is prominent; it is very easy to reach green spaces from numerous locations within the borough, since there are approximately 40 of them nearby for residents to discover, like Parc Angrignon. Moreover, residents will find that many tree-lined streets are around.

Housing

About 40% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Verdun, while large apartment buildings and duplexes are the main alternatives in the housing stock. About half of properties in this borough were constructed prior to the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of Montréal offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. About two thirds of the population of this borough rent their home and owners make up the remainder.
