Saint-Hubert

The borough of Saint-Hubert is part of the city of Longueuil, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

It is easy for people walking to move around in this area; many day-to-day errands can be run without the need to get in a car. It is also convenient to travel by bike in this borough because there are a limited number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and the cycling infrastructure is well-developed. Saint-Hubert is not particularly transit friendly. Nevertheless, homeowners are served by the Gare Longueuil-Saint-Hubert with access to the 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire. There are over 50 bus lines, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most homes. However, Saint-Hubert is very car friendly. It is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier, from any location in Saint-Hubert, and parking is quite easy.

Services

It is convenient to get to the closest grocery store as a pedestrian from anywhere in this part of the city. Residents are served by over 50 restaurants and cafes as well. When it comes to education, daycares and schools are easy to reach as a pedestrian from anywhere in this borough. Families have the option of public and private schools at both the elementary and high school level.

Character

The character of Saint-Hubert is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This area features a small amount of greenery; to be more precise, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is below average. Nonetheless, green spaces, like Parc de la Cité, are very well-spread out and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to unwind in, resulting in them being easy to reach from most locations in the borough. This area is quiet overall, as the streets are generally tranquil - although that is not the case near Autoroute de l'Acier, the railway line or one of the 2 airports (Héliport de St-Hubert,Aéroport de St-Hubert).

Housing

In Saint-Hubert, about half of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the properties are mainly small apartment buildings. This borough also has a good variety of unit sizes; it is quite easy to find properties ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly 70% of the population of this borough own their home and renters make up the remainder. About one third of properties in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 2000s.
