Saint-Laurent

The borough of Saint-Laurent can be found in the city of Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is usually the best way to navigate this part of the city. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Métropolitaine, from anywhere in Saint-Laurent, and it is easy to park. This borough is also quite transit friendly. In particular, house owners can depend on Côte-Vertu Station and Du Collège Station with access to the 2 | Ligne 2 - Orange. The borough is connected by around 40 bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Saint-Laurent, even though meeting daily needs is convenient on foot. Despite the fact that there are few hills to challenge cyclists, and biking is better in some pockets than others, Saint-Laurent is also not especially bicycling-friendly as there are few bike lanes.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to get to on foot from most houses for sale in Saint-Laurent. However, there are only a limited number of high schools and consequently they can be an extended walk away. With regards to food, a supermarket is typically accessible within a reasonably short walk from any location in Saint-Laurent. Residents can enjoy over 100 restaurants and coffee shops as well.

Character

There is a vast selection of green spaces in Saint-Laurent. More specifically, it is easy to get to parks from a large number of locations within the borough since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to explore. Despite the abundance of green spaces, the majority of streets have sub-par tree coverage. This part of the city is relatively quiet, due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, although there can be more noise for those who are near the airport (YUL), Autoroute Décarie, Autoroute Chomedey or one of the railway lines.

Housing

In Saint-Laurent, around one third of buildings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This borough offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. This borough did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new dwellings in Saint-Laurent was spread throughout several decades in recent history.
