Saint-Laurent

Saint-Laurent is a borough within Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Saint-Laurent offers property owners the choice between several methods of transportation. The transit infrastructure in this area is moderately convenient. For example, there is Du Collège Station and Côte-Vertu Station on the Ligne 2 - Orange. The borough is connected by about 50 bus lines, and it is especially convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. Property owners who value living in a compact area will also enjoy the rather pedestrian-friendly character of this borough; running common errands is convenient without a vehicle, and various businesses are close by. This area is reasonably bicycling-friendly as the bicycling network is reasonably good, and it is a flat ride to most destinations.

Services

Parents and their kids will welcome that wherever their house is situated in this borough, daycares and schools are nearby. Besides public schools, there are also private schools at both the primary and high school level. As far as food is concerned, it is easy to get to both a general and a specialty grocery store on foot from any home in this part of Montréal. Likewise, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a good number of options, and a small variety of cafes is available as well.

Character

Saint-Laurent offers a relaxed environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is quiet, as the streets are generally reasonably tranquil - although there are still several noisier areas, especially near the airport (Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport), Autoroute de la Côte-de-Liesse, Autoroute Félix-Leclerc or one of the railway lines. Lastly, the greenery in this area is quite prominent as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is good. There are over 50 public green spaces close by for residents to discover, such as Park Fleming and Parc Philippe-Laheurte, and they are very well-spread out, which makes it very easy to reach them.

Housing

In Saint-Laurent, roughly one third of dwellings are small apartment buildings, and the rest of the homes are mainly large apartment buildings and single detached homes. This borough has a good variety of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. This part of the city did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in Saint-Laurent was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
