This part of the city is very car friendly. Most houses for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 401, and coming across a parking spot is easy. In contrast, public transit users may experience limited options in Bay Ridges as a result of the low service level. Nonetheless, it is convenient to reach a nearby train station, including the Pickering with access to the Lakeshore East, from the greater part of homes in the neighbourhood. Homeowners benefit from a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close. Travelling by foot is not very popular in this neighbourhood, even though many daily needs can be carried out without the use of a vehicle. Commuting by bicycle is also at times difficult in this part of the city as the cycling network is not very comprehensive, and there are a fair number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists.

Housing

In Bay Ridges, roughly one third of dwellings are single detached homes, but large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Around half of homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
