The neighbourhood of Bay Ridges can be found in the city of Pickering, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a very good medium of transportation in Bay Ridges. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to reach from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and it is convenient to park. On the other hand, travelling by public transit is difficult in this part of the city. Nonetheless, There are a few bus lines, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. Travelling by foot is not very common in this part of the city, although meeting day-to-day needs is easy by walking. Bay Ridges is also not particularly amenable to biking as there are a good number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling infrastructure is rather poor.

Services

The closest grocery store in Bay Ridges is usually only a reasonably short walk away. Likewise, there are a good number of options for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes. In terms of education, daycares and primary schools are very easy to walk to from most houses for sale in Bay Ridges. However, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood.

Character

Bay Ridges is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Bay Ridges is great for those who enjoy quiet surroundings, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Parks aren't well-distributed, resulting in them being very difficult to access from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood.

Housing

About half of properties in Bay Ridges were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 2000s. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing roughly one third of dwellings in this part of Pickering, while large apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood while the remainder are rented. This part of the city offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
