Westhill

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Westhill is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Westhill is very car friendly. Most real estate listings are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, and it is very convenient to access a place to park. In contrast, Westhill is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. Moving around by bicycle is difficult in Westhill since there is a considerable amount of elevation changes, and there are few bike lanes. Nevertheless, bicycling is reasonably popular. Westhill is also not very conducive to walking because few day-to-day errands can be run on foot.

Services

It is very rarely an option for home buyers in this neighbourhood to travel to the closest supermarket on foot. When it comes to education, parents and their children will welcome that wherever their house is located in Westhill, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. On the other hand, it can be very hard to access daycares on foot.

Character

There is a very good selection of green spaces in Westhill. Parks are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in, which makes it very easy to reach them. This area is relatively quiet, as there are very few pedestrians.

Housing

About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the rest are renters. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the vast majority of dwellings in this neighbourhood, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Roughly one third of properties in this part of the municipality were built between 1990 and 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this neighbourhood.
