Brompton

The borough of Brompton can be found in the city of Sherbrooke, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Sherbrooke metropolitan area.

Transportation

This borough is very car friendly. It is especially convenient to park. On the other hand, the public transit system in Brompton is quite poor. Nevertheless, the borough is linked by a few bus lines. It is very challenging for pedestrians to get around in this part of the city since most daily needs are very inconvenient to meet without having to resort to a car.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to buy groceries. When it comes to education, families may consider it very hard for their children to access high schools and primary schools on foot. Likewise, there are only a very small number of daycares and therefore they can be a very long walk away.

Character

Brompton is good for those who prefer quiet surroundings, as the streets tend to be quite tranquil - however noise can be an issue close to the railway line, Autoroute des Cantons-de-l'Est or Autoroute Louis-Bilodeau. Parks are distributed sporadically, making it rather difficult to reach them. Still, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to check out.

Housing

In Brompton, many buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. Roughly 30% of properties in this borough were built pre-1960, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This area has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Around 60% of the population of this borough own their home while the rest are renters.
