Brompton

Part of the Greater Sherbrooke metropolitan area, Brompton is a borough within Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in Brompton. Accessing a parking spot is generally easy, and it is a rather short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute des Cantons-de-l'Est, from anywhere in this part of the city. However, commuting by transit can be challenging in Brompton due to the low service level. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the borough, and bus stops are not very far from most properties. The bicycle is a sometimes poor means of transportation in Brompton as the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and there is a significant amount of elevation changes. Thankfully, some pleasant sectors for cycling exist. Walking is also not very convenient for home buyers in this borough because many day-to-day needs are inconvenient to meet without a vehicle.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed in Brompton to access the nearest grocery store. Nevertheless, pharmacies are typically easy to access on foot and provide some basic food items. A limited selection of restaurants is available in this area as well. When it comes to education, both primary and secondary schools are convenient to reach without the need to get in a car from most properties for sale in Brompton. In contrast, there are only a very small number of daycares and therefore they can be a very long stroll away.

Character

The character of Brompton is exemplified by its calm environment. This part of the city is very quiet overall, as there are low levels of noise from traffic - however some parts can be quite loud, especially near the railway line, Autoroute Louis-Bilodeau or Autoroute Joseph-Armand-Bombardier. Finally, there are a few public green spaces close by for residents to check out, which makes them easy to reach.

Housing

About 70% of the population of this borough own their home and renters make up the remainder. In this part of Sherbrooke, about two thirds of buildings are single detached homes, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. Around one quarter of properties in this borough were built after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
