Bienville

Bienville is a neighbourhood within Longueuil, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured method to move around in this part of the city is usually driving. It is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier, from anywhere in Bienville, and finding a parking spot is quite easy. However, the public transit system in this part of Longueuil is not very practical. Nevertheless, there are around 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. The bicycle is a somewhat poor mode of transportation in Bienville since the cycling infrastructure is not especially comprehensive. Nonetheless, a few bike-friendly sectors exist, and there are few elevation changes to confront cyclists. Walking is also not very convenient for residents in this neighbourhood because very few daily errands can be run on foot.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are convenient to walk to from anywhere in Bienville. In contrast, this area does not contain any high schools. With regards to food, a fraction of residents in Bienville may have the option to do their grocery shopping by walking, while others will have to rely on a vehicle. A limited variety of restaurants is available in this part of Longueuil as well.

Character

Bienville is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. This part of the city is quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case close to Autoroute de l'Acier. Finally, there is not that much greenery in this part of Longueuil; more specifically, residents will find that relatively few tree-lined streets are present. However, green spaces are very well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to visit, resulting in them being easy to reach from many locations within the neighbourhood.

Housing

In Bienville, most buildings are single detached homes, and the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. This area experienced its largest building boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. This neighbourhood also has a good selection of housing size options - properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 15% are renters.
