The neighbourhood of Mimico is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This neighbourhood enables property owners to move around by several means of transportation. Physically active house buyers will value the reasonably walk-friendly character of Mimico; running common errands is convenient on foot. Biking is also easy in this part of the city. The public transit network in Mimico is convenient. In particular, train stations, including the Mimico with access to the Lakeshore West, are not very far from most residences in the neighbourhood. Homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. The car is often the best mode of transportation in Mimico. It is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway, such as F G Gardiner Expressway, from any location in Mimico, and it is convenient to access a parking spot.

Services

It is very easy to access the closest grocery store on foot in Mimico. Furthermore, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a small selection of coffee shops is available as well. As far as education is concerned, primary schools and daycares are especially convenient to reach on foot from most properties for sale in Mimico. On the other hand, this part of Toronto does not have any high schools. At the elementary level, there are both public and private schools.

Character

The character of Mimico is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. This area is reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to F G Gardiner Expressway or the railway line. Finally, there is a fair amount of greenery in this part of the city; it is very easy to reach parks since there are around 20 of them close by for residents to relax in. Furthermore, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for many streets is reasonably good.

Housing

In Mimico, around one third of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings and single detached homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. Roughly 45% of properties in this part of the city were constructed prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 2000s.
