Transportation

This neighbourhood will attract homeowners that value various means of transportation. With Pickering on the Lakeshore East, and about 10 nearby bus lines, Town Centre has a reasonably good public transit system. Travelling on foot is also practical for property owners in this area; running common errands is easy on foot, and a variety of businesses are close by. Although certain enjoyable pockets for bicycling exist, moving around by bicycle is at times difficult in this area as Town Centre has a somewhat poor cycling infrastructure, and there are a good number of elevation changes for cyclists to brave.

In terms of eating, it is very often practical for property owners in Town Centre to do their groceries on foot. In addition, there are a good number of choices within walking distance for those who value restaurants and cafes.

Character

Most areas in Town Centre are reasonably quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case around the railway line or Highway 401. Even though this area is not known for its vibrancy, its main streets are still quite energetic. Parks aren't well-located, making it very difficult to reach them.

Housing

About two thirds of dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Town Centre, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. This area offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around 70% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented. This part of the city did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new homes in the neighbourhood was spread throughout multiple decades in recent history.
