Town Centre

The neighbourhood of Town Centre can be found in the city of Pickering, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of the city will please home buyers that use various modes of transportation. The public transit system in Town Centre is good due to a few nearby bus lines. Active home buyers will also welcome the walk-friendly character of Town Centre; many common errands can be run on foot. This part of the city is not very conducive to biking because the bicycling network is not very comprehensive, and the topography is not particularly flat.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to reach daycares and primary schools from most homes for sale in this part of the city. In contrast, there are no high schools in Town Centre. With respect to eating, property owners in this part of Pickering will welcome that a grocery store is always only a short walk away. Likewise, there is commonly a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. Property owners have access to a good number of nearby clothing stores.

Character

Town Centre remains relatively quiet, since there are few people out and about on the streets; however there can be more noise for those who are near Highway 401 or the railway line. Parks are sparse, which makes them very difficult to get to.

Housing

About two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and one third are rented. In this neighbourhood, around 60% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and townhouses. Roughly one third of properties in this part of Pickering were constructed in the 1990s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
