Stevenson

Part of the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area, Stevenson is a neighbourhood within Oshawa, Ontario.

Transportation

Stevenson is very car friendly. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and the majority of houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 401. In contrast, the public transit service in Stevenson is not very frequent. Thankfully, house owners can depend on the Oshawa Station on the Lakeshore East Line. The neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is typically just around the corner. It is impractical for pedestrians to navigate Stevenson since few common errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

It is a rather short walk to get to daycares from most properties for sale in Stevenson. On the other hand, there are no primary schools and no high schools in Stevenson. When it comes to food, accessing the nearest grocery store by walking is possible for some, but not all, property owners in this neighbourhood. A limited number of restaurants and cafes are available.

Character

Stevenson offers a wide variety of green spaces to enjoy. Public green spaces are easy to access since there are a few of them nearby for residents to relax in. Lastly, as there are very few pedestrians, this part of Oshawa is relatively calm.

Housing

The substantial percentage of townhouses in the housing stock of Stevenson is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood experienced its largest building boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. This part of Oshawa also has quite a good selection of unit sizes - this area is notable for those looking for three bedroom homes. About 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented.
