Alpine

The neighbourhood of Alpine can be found in the city of Kitchener, Ontario, which is situated in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

Alpine is very car friendly. Most properties for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 7, and it is very easy to come across a place to park. In contrast, commuting by public transit is at times difficult in Alpine. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most properties. Bicycling is occasionally difficult in Alpine as there are a good number of hills for cyclists to brave, and the cycling infrastructure is not especially well-developed. Nonetheless, certain bicycling-friendly pockets exist. Walking is also not very popular in Alpine, despite the fact that many day-to-day needs are convenient to carry out on foot.

Services

It is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools from any location in this part of the city. In contrast, Alpine does not have any high schools. As far as food is concerned, it is frequently practical for house buyers in this area to shop for their groceries on foot. Furthermore, Alpine is a fairly good place in which to go out to eat, and residents can enjoy a few cafes as well.

Character

Alpine offers a wide variety of green spaces to enjoy. Green spaces, such as Laurentian Trail and Peter Hallman Ballyard and Sportsplex, are very well-spread out and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes them very easy to access. This part of the city remains relatively quiet, since there are few pedestrians; however those who are near one of the railway lines or Highway 7 may experience more noise.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around 40% of buildings in Alpine, and the rest of the properties are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This part of the city is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 30% are rented. A majority of the housing growth in this area occurred in the 1960s and 1970s.
