Located within the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area, Alpine is a neighbourhood within Kitchener, Ontario.

Transportation

Bicycling is easy in Alpine as the cycling network is extensive. Alpine is also a fairly pleasant part of Kitchener for pedestrians; many common errands can be run without a car. Driving is very often the preferred approach to navigate Alpine. Parking is quite easy, and the majority of homes for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 7 & 8. However, Alpine is not particularly transit friendly. Thankfully, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are usually very close by.

Services

It is typically possible for property owners in Alpine to do their grocery shopping as pedestrians. There are also a few restaurants and cafes in this part of Kitchener. With respect to education, parents and their kids will find that wherever their property is situated in Alpine, primary schools are close by. However, there are no high schools in this neighbourhood.

Character

The character of Alpine is exemplified by its calm environment. Public green spaces, including Peter Hallman Ballyard / Activa Sportsplex and Peter Hallman Ballyard/Activa Sportsplex, are very well-distributed and there are approximately 10 of them close by for residents to unwind in, making it very easy to reach them. This neighbourhood is also very quiet, as the streets are usually very tranquil - however noise can be problematic closer to Ottawa Street, Highway 7 & 8 or one of the railway lines.

In Alpine, roughly one quarter of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. Most of the housing growth in this part of the city took place between 1960 and 1980.
