Old Hamilton

The former municipality of Old Hamilton can be found in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area is quite appropriate for biking. Many of the homes for sale in this former municipality are located in places that are also quite convenient for those who travel by foot; running daily errands is easy. The preferred method to navigate this part of the city is usually driving. It is easy to park, and most homes for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Lincoln M Alexander Parkway. In contrast, getting around by public transit is occasionally challenging in Old Hamilton. Thankfully, there is the Hamilton GO Centre Station and West Harbour Station with access to the Lakeshore West Line. There are approximately 40 bus lines crossing the former municipality, and most residences are very close to a bus stop.

Services

It is easy to get to the nearest supermarket by walking in Old Hamilton. Furthermore, a restaurant is often just around the corner, for example along Concession Street, and house buyers can enjoy over 50 cafes as well. With regards to education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach daycares and schools from any location in Old Hamilton.

Character

Old Hamilton is a good former municipality to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. There are over 350 green spaces close by for residents to enjoy, such as Gage Park and Mohawk Sports Park, which makes it very easy to reach them. This former municipality is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - however some parts can be quite loud, especially closer to one of the railway lines, Red Hill Valley Parkway or Queen Elizabeth Way.

The buildings in this area are quite old, because roughly one third of its buildings were built pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this area, around 55% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock.
