Allendale

Allendale is a neighbourhood within Cambridge, Ontario, which is located in the Kitchener - Cambridge - Waterloo metropolitan area.

Transportation

This area is very car friendly. Most properties for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 8, and it is very easy to park. In contrast, the public transit network in Allendale is not very accessible. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most houses. It is impractical for pedestrians to move around in Allendale as very few daily errands can be run on foot. However, the bicycle is a fairly good method of transportation in Allendale.

Services

Both primary and secondary schools are easy to get to on foot from most properties for sale in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, daycares are not particularly plentiful and consequently not always within walking distance. With respect to eating, in all but a very small number of cases, a vehicle is required to purchase groceries. Nonetheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and consequently some basic food items is usually easy.

Character

Allendale offers a great variety of green spaces to enjoy. Although Allendale is not home to any parks, parks are especially well-distributed in nearby neighbourhoods, making it easy to get to them. This neighbourhood remains relatively calm, as there are very few pedestrians.

Housing

Roughly 40% of properties in Allendale were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. The predominant housing types in this part of Cambridge are single detached homes and row houses.
