Freeman

Freeman is a neighbourhood within Burlington, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Freeman is an extremely convenient part of Burlington for travelling by car. Nearby highways, such as Queen Elizabeth Way, are especially easy to reach from anywhere in this area, and it is very convenient to come across a parking spot. Thanks to Burlington with access to the Lakeshore West, and approximately 10 nearby bus lines, Freeman also benefits from a reasonably good public transit system. Although some enjoyable sectors for bicycling exist, and there are not many hills to challenge cyclists, it is difficult to commute by bike in this area since the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor. Traveling by walking is also not very common in Freeman, despite the fact that running day-to-day errands is easy without needing to resort to a vehicle, and a variety of businesses are moderately close at hand.

Services

Parents and their children will value that wherever their home is situated in Freeman, daycares are close by. On the other hand, there are only a limited number of primary schools in this area and consequently they can be a long walk away. Furthermore, Freeman does not have any high schools. With regards to eating, property owners in this neighbourhood will appreciate that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short trip away. Moreover, there is often a restaurant or cafe just around the corner.

Character

Freeman offers a great variety of green spaces to enjoy. It is easy to get to parks since there are a few of them close by for residents to discover. Finally, due to the presence of few pedestrians, this part of the city is relatively quiet, although noise levels are higher closer to Highway 403, Queen Elizabeth Way or the railway line.

Housing

In Freeman, around 30% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. The split between homeowners and renters is about even. The buildings in this part of Burlington are relatively new, because roughly 45% of its dwellings were built after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
