Chartwell

Chartwell is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best method to navigate this area is very often driving. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and most real estate listings are a very short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. On the other hand, the public transit system in Chartwell is not very practical. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. Commuting by bicycle is challenging in this part of West Vancouver as riding is made strenuous by the typically hilly terrain, and there are few bike lanes. Chartwell is also not very suitable for those who travel by foot as few daily needs can be met without needing to use a vehicle.

Services

Families will appreciate that no matter where their home is situated in this neighbourhood, both primary and secondary schools are close by. However, it can be very difficult to reach daycares on foot. Concerning food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries.

Character

The character of Chartwell is exemplified by its calm ambience. There are approximately 30 green spaces nearby for residents to discover, which makes them very easy to access. This part of West Vancouver is also very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several noisier sections, especially around taylor way or Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing the vast majority of buildings in Chartwell, whereas the remainder are mainly duplexes. However this part of the municipality is particularly good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes. Roughly three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas renters occupy the remainder. About 40% of homes in this part of West Vancouver were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
