Chartwell

Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Chartwell is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia.

Transportation

Driving is usually the best approach to move around in Chartwell. It is very convenient to find a parking spot, and nearby highways, such as Taylor Offramp Way, are particularly easy to access from any location in this part of the municipality. However, public transit riders may experience limited choices in Chartwell by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually around the corner. Chartwell is not very suited for cycling as there are few bike lanes, and cyclists are faced with a significant amount of elevation changes. It is also difficult for people walking to navigate Chartwell since few daily needs can be met without a vehicle.

Services

It is very rarely an option for home buyers in this part of the municipality to do groceries by walking. Regarding education, families will find that no matter where their house is situated in Chartwell, both primary and secondary schools are nearby. On the other hand, daycares are not numerous and consequently not always within a short distance.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Chartwell. Parks are very easy to reach, since there are approximately 30 of them nearby for residents to visit and the majority of houses have a park very close by. This neighbourhood is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case near Taylor Offramp Way or Trans-Canada Highway.

Housing

The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of Chartwell is an important part of its character. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about three quarters of the dwellings in Chartwell whereas the rest are rented. Roughly 40% of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
