Chartwell is a neighbourhood within West Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured way to get around in this neighbourhood is very often a car. It is very easy to access a parking spot, and the majority of houses for sale are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway. However, the public transit service in Chartwell is not very frequent. Nonetheless, homeowners are served by a few bus lines, and most properties are very close to a bus stop. It is challenging for pedestrians to get around in Chartwell as running common errands is at times difficult. This part of the municipality is also not very appropriate for biking as the cycling infrastructure is fairly poor, and cyclists encounter quite a few elevation changes.

Services

Property owners in this part of the municipality generally have to use a car to shop for groceries. As far as education is concerned, both primary and secondary schools are convenient to access on foot from anywhere in this area. However, parents may consider it difficult for their children to get to daycares as a pedestrian.

Character

Chartwell offers a calm environment and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be quite tranquil - although there are still several louder areas, especially closer to Trans-Canada Highway. Finally, there are about 20 parks close by for residents to discover, resulting in them being very easy to reach from most locations within the neighbourhood.

Housing

Roughly 45% of homes in Chartwell were built between 1960 and 1980, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. Single detached homes and townhouses are the main housing type in this part of the municipality. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the units in Chartwell while the remainder are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
