The neighbourhood of East Richmond is part of the city of Richmond, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling on foot is quite practical for residents in East Richmond; meeting day-to-day needs is easy by walking. The bicycle is a good method of transportation in East Richmond since bike riders do not face serious elevation changes. The favoured way to move around in this area is very often driving. It is a rather short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 99, from any home in East Richmond, and it is convenient to park. However, the public transit service in this part of the city is somewhat poor. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are usually nearby.

Services

Families will welcome that wherever their property is situated in East Richmond, both primary and secondary schools are close by. In contrast, daycares are not very abundant and accordingly not always within walking distance. With respect to eating, it is very rarely practical for house buyers in this area to buy their groceries on foot. Nevertheless, getting to the closest pharmacy and thus some staple foods is generally convenient. Residents of East Richmond can enjoy a few restaurants as well.

Character

East Richmond offers a very good selection of green spaces to enjoy, as well as some areas with a vibrant ambience. There are about 20 public green spaces close by for residents to visit, which results in them being very easy to get to from most locations within the neighbourhood. Lastly, as there are few pedestrians, this part of Richmond remains relatively quiet, although noise levels are higher closer to the railway line, westminster highway or Steveston Offramp Highway.

Housing

Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the properties in East Richmond while the remainder are rented. In this neighbourhood, about 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings and duplexes. This neighbourhood experienced its largest construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this era. This neighbourhood offers mainly one bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
