Transportation

The favoured transportation option in this area is usually a car. It is very easy to come across a place to park. On the other hand, getting around by transit can be very difficult in Ruskin by reason of the infrequent service. Nonetheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and most properties are near a bus stop. Many of the houses for sale in this part of Maple Ridge are located in areas that are not very suitable for walking because almost no daily errands can be run on foot. Bicycling is also at times challenging in Ruskin because riding is rendered arduous by the often sloping topography, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Ruskin. In addition, families may find it challenging for their schoolchildren to access daycares as a pedestrian. In terms of food, in all but a very small number of cases, a car is required to purchase groceries.

Character

Ruskin offers a relaxed ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are a few green spaces nearby for residents to discover, like Bcit Woodlot W007 and Ruskin, making it easy to reach them. This part of the city is also quiet, as the streets are generally quite peaceful - although there are still several louder sections, especially near the railway line.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Ruskin is an important part of its character. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented.
