Part of the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area, Alouette is a neighbourhood within Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in this neighbourhood. It is especially convenient to park. However, the public transit network in Alouette is not very practical. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines. Cycling is occasionally challenging in Alouette as the topography is not particularly flat, and this area is home to a rather limited bicycling infrastructure. This neighbourhood is also not very convenient for walking because very few common errands can be run on foot.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Alouette. In addition, daycares are not abundant and thus not always within walking distance. Concerning food, in all cases, a vehicle is needed to buy groceries. A small number of restaurants can be found in this part of Maple Ridge.

Character

Alouette is a very good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. The noise levels in this part of Maple Ridge are very low, as the streets tend to be very peaceful. Lastly, there are a few green spaces nearby for residents to discover, such as Codd Wetland and Blaney Bog Reserve, and they are very well-distributed, making it easy to get to them from many locations in Alouette.

Housing

In Alouette, roughly 85% of buildings are single detached homes, but townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 90% of the units in Alouette whereas the remainder are rented. About 45% of homes in this part of the city were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
