Lower Lonsdale is a neighbourhood within City of North Vancouver, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Lower Lonsdale will draw house buyers that value different means of transportation. It is very easy for pedestrians to get around in this part of the city; running common errands is convenient by walking, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Lower Lonsdale will also draw physically active people because it is suitable for biking. For example, the bicycling infrastructure is extensive. Getting around by public transit is convenient in this area as a result of about 10 nearby bus lines. This part of City of North Vancouver is also reasonably car friendly. It is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway from any home in this area.

Services

It is a short walk to get to daycares and schools from anywhere in Lower Lonsdale. Families benefit from public and private elementary schools. Regarding food, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a rather short walk away in Lower Lonsdale. Likewise, this part of City of North Vancouver is a good place in which to go out to eat, and residents benefit from a few cafes as well. It is also a rather short distance to a decent variety of clothing stores, for example along Lonsdale Avenue.

Character

Lower Lonsdale offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are around 30 green spaces close by for residents to discover and they are especially well-spread out, resulting in them being very easy to get to from the majority of locations within this neighbourhood. This part of the city is quiet overall, as the streets are generally reasonably tranquil - although that is not the case near the railway line.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing about half of dwellings in Lower Lonsdale, and the rest of the properties are mainly large apartment buildings. This part of City of North Vancouver is primarily composed of two bedroom and one bedroom homes. The split between homeowners and renters is about even. Around one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.
