Burnaby Lake

Burnaby Lake is a neighbourhood within Burnaby, British Columbia, which is situated in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is usually the preferred approach to move around in this area. Most of the street network is made for cars, and it is especially convenient to find a place to park. On the other hand, residents using public transit may find limited options in Burnaby Lake due to the low service level. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most properties are near a bus stop. Burnaby Lake is not very amenable to bicycling since the cycling network is somewhat poor, and there are quite a few elevation changes. Nonetheless, riding a bike is more feasible in some pockets than others. Travelling on foot is also not very practical for house buyers in this neighbourhood as few day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

Reaching the nearest grocery store by walking is feasible for some, but not all, home buyers in Burnaby Lake. In terms of education, this neighbourhood does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Moreover, there are only a few daycares and therefore they can be an extended walk away.

Character

A highlight of Burnaby Lake is its wonderful selection of green spaces. There are about 10 green spaces close by for residents to discover, like Burnaby Lk Sports Complex - East and Brunette River Conservation Area, making them very easy to access. It remains relatively serene in this part of the city, due to the presence of very few pedestrians.

Housing

Townhouses are the most common housing type, representing around 40% of buildings in Burnaby Lake, whereas the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and single detached homes. About 40% of properties in this area were constructed between 1990 and 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. About 70% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the remainder are renters.
