Lachenaie

Situated within the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Lachenaie is a borough in Terrebonne, Quebec.

Transportation

The preferred transportation option in Lachenaie is usually driving. Parking is quite easy, and many real estate listings are a short car ride from the closest highway, such as Autoroute 640. However, the public transit service in this part of the city is fairly poor. Nonetheless, homeowners can depend on the Gare Terrebonne with access to the Mascouche Line. Property owners are served by about 20 bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Lachenaie is not very conducive to walking since meeting daily needs is at times difficult.

Services

Daycares are convenient to get to on foot from any location in Lachenaie. On the other hand, families may consider it difficult for their children to get to primary schools and high schools as pedestrians. In terms of food, accessing one of about 10 supermarkets on foot is feasible for some, but not all, house buyers in Lachenaie. There are also a few options for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

Lachenaie offers a calm ambience and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time outdoors. This area is reasonably quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines, Autoroute 640 or Autoroute 25. Finally, greenery is not very prominent in this borough; however, parks are easy to get to, since a lot of houses have one a short walk away and there are about 40 green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy.

Housing

In Lachenaie, most buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. The homes in this part of Terrebonne are very modern, because roughly 45% of its dwellings were constructed after the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 80% of the units in Lachenaie and the rest are rented.
