Anjou

Anjou is a borough within Montréal, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Anjou permits homeowners to move around by different methods of transportation. Thanks to approximately 20 nearby bus lines, this part of Montréal features a fairly good public transit system. Anjou will also attract active people since it is reasonably well-suited for those who travel by foot; meeting daily needs is convenient. This area is not particularly bike-friendly since the cycling network is not very extensive. Thankfully, a few pleasant sectors for cycling exist, and there are a limited number of slopes.

Services

Both general and specialty grocery stores are usually accessible within a reasonably short walk from anywhere in Anjou. Likewise, this part of the city is a good place in which to eat out, and a small number of coffee shops is available as well. When it comes to education, it is a reasonably short walk to reach primary schools and daycares from most homes for sale in Anjou. On the other hand, families may consider it difficult for their kids to reach high schools on foot.

Character

Anjou offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy, as well as some areas with a vibrant ambience. To be more precise, parks, like Parc-Nature du Bois-d'Anjou, are very well-spread out and there are around 30 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, which makes it easy to reach them. At the same time, the tree canopy coverage for most streets is sub-par. Finally, this borough is relatively quiet, thanks to the presence of few pedestrians, although noise levels are higher closer to Autoroute 25, Autoroute Métropolitaine or the railway line.

Housing

In Anjou, about 55% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while large apartment buildings are the main housing type in the rest of the housing stock. Around half of properties in this borough were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This area offers mainly three bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around 55% of the population of this borough rent their home whereas the remainder are owners.
