Bout-de-l'Île

Part of the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Bout-de-l'Île is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec.

Transportation

Bout-de-l'Île is an extraordinarily good part of Montréal for moving around by car. Parking is easy, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway from anywhere in this area. On the other hand, public transit riders may have limited choices in Bout-de-l'Île as a result of the infrequent service. Thankfully, there are approximately 10 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. Getting around by bicycle is convenient in this part of Montréal as there are a limited number of slopes for cyclists to brave, and the cycling infrastructure is good. In contrast, walking is not very practical for property owners in this area since carrying out daily needs is impractical without the use of a vehicle.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to purchase groceries. Nevertheless, pharmacies are typically convenient to get to on foot and sell some basic food items. There are also a few choices for those who appreciate close by restaurants and cafes. With respect to education, primary schools and daycares are very easy to walk to from most properties for sale in this part of Montréal. In contrast, high schools are not especially plentiful and thus may require a rather long walk to get to.

Character

Bout-de-l'Île is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced ambience. This neighbourhood is quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case closer to the railway line. Lastly, the greenery in this area is quite prominent as numerous tree-lined streets are present. There are about 30 parks close by for residents to enjoy, like Parc-Nature de la Pointe-aux-Prairies, which results in them being very easy to access from many locations within Bout-de-l'Île.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters. The majority of the housing stock of this area is made up of small apartment buildings and single detached homes, and the remainder are mainly townhouses. Around one third of properties in this part of the city were built in the 1980s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes.
