Transportation

Little Italy is an excellent neighbourhood with regards to getting around without driving. The great public transit infrastructure allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car. Property owners benefit from a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. It is also very easy for people travelling on foot to get around in this part of the city; most day-to-day errands can be run without the use of a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are reasonably nearby. Active people will enjoy the especially cycling-friendly nature of Little Italy. In particular, the bicycling infrastructure is quite extensive, and cyclists do not encounter significant elevation changes.

Services

Daycares and schools are straightforward to get to on foot from most properties for sale in this part of the city. In terms of food, it is very easy to access both a general and a specialty grocery store by walking from any location in this area. There are approximately 10 supermarkets in this part of Montréal, and the best variety can be found on streets such as Boulevard Saint-Laurent. Additionally, those who like to eat out won't have to walk far in Little Italy, where over 50 restaurants and a few cafes are available. It is also especially easy to get to a number of clothing stores on foot.

Character

Little Italy is reasonably quiet, as the streets tend to be quite tranquil, however noise can be problematic near the railway line. There is a fair amount of greenery in this neighbourhood as most streets have good tree coverage. Public green spaces are very easy to access since there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in. Finally, finding vibrant areas is very easy in this neighbourhood. There are a very large number of people around most of the time, there are many nearby entertainment venues, and with its about 10 nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities. Main streets, such as Rue Jean-Talon, are very good for those who like going out.

In Little Italy, the vast majority of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while the rest are mainly duplexes. This part of the city offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Renters occupy about 70% of the units in Little Italy and 30% are occupied by owners. This area experienced its main construction boom pre-1960, so most of the available homes are from this time period.
