Lakeshore

Located within the Greater Montreal metropolitan area, Lakeshore is a neighbourhood in Baie-D'Urfé, Quebec.

Transportation

Lakeshore is an extraordinarily good part of Baie-D'Urfé for moving around by car. It is very easy to come across a parking spot, and many real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute du Souvenir. In contrast, the public transit service in Lakeshore is not very frequent. Thankfully, there is the Gare Baie-d'Urfé on the 11 - Vaudreuil/Hudson. The neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. Lakeshore is not very well-suited for people who like to travel as pedestrians because common errands are challenging to run without the need to use a vehicle. Biking is also at times difficult in Lakeshore as there are a good number of slopes, and the bicycling network is fairly poor.

Services

A supermarket is typically accessible within a reasonably short stroll from anywhere in Lakeshore. Residents of this part of the city benefit from a few restaurants as well. In terms of education, it is a short distance to get to both primary and secondary schools from most homes for sale in Lakeshore. Along with public schools, there are private elementary schools. In contrast, daycares are not particularly abundant and thus tend to require a rather long trip to get to.

Character

The character of Lakeshore is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This area is very quiet overall, as the streets are usually very tranquil near Autoroute du Souvenir. Finally, the greenery in this part of Baie-D'Urfé is reasonably prominent; there are a few parks close by for residents to explore, including Parc Fritz, and they are especially well-situated, making it easy to reach them from numerous locations in Lakeshore. Moreover, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is good.

Housing

Lakeshore experienced its most significant construction boom pre-1960, so most of the available properties are from this era. Single detached homes and townhouses are the predominant housing type in this neighbourhood. Roughly 95% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while renters occupy the remainder. Notably, this area is good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes.
