Halpern

Halpern is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

The best transportation option in Halpern is very often a car. Many properties for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Chomedey, and it is very easy to find a place to park. In contrast, commuting by transit can be occasionally challenging in Halpern by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily nearby. Cycling is sometimes difficult in Halpern as there are few bike lanes. Nonetheless, there are a limited number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and bicycling is better in some areas than others. Halpern is also not very conducive to walking because carrying out day-to-day needs is impractical on foot.

Services

It is a rather short walk to access daycares from most houses for sale in this part of the city. On the other hand, this area does not have any primary schools or high schools. In terms of food, it is very rarely an option for property owners in this neighbourhood to buy their groceries by walking. Residents benefit from a few restaurants and cafes.

Character

There is a wide variety of green spaces in Halpern. To be more specific, although the neighbourhood does not contain any parks, public green spaces are very well-situated in nearby neighbourhoods, making it easy to access them. At the same time, there are few tree-lined streets. Finally, it remains relatively serene in this neighbourhood, due to the presence of very few pedestrians.

Housing

In Halpern, roughly 40% of dwellings are single detached homes, while townhouses are the main alternative in the housing stock. Around one third of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Nearly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 10% are renters.
