Saraguay

Saraguay is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is reasonably convenient to move around in this neighbourhood. The favoured approach to move around in Saraguay is very often driving. It is a rather short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Chomedey, from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and it is easy to access a parking spot. Owing to a few nearby bus lines, the public transit network in Saraguay is also fairly good. Physically active property owners will enjoy the cycling-friendly nature of Saraguay. More specifically, there are not many elevation changes to confront cyclists. On the other hand, Saraguay is not particularly suitable for those who travel by foot since carrying out daily needs is sometimes difficult without a vehicle.

Services

Getting to the nearest supermarket by walking is an option for some, but not all, home buyers in Saraguay. Regarding education, parents and their children will value that wherever their home is located in this part of Montréal, both primary and secondary schools are close by. In contrast, daycares are not very numerous and accordingly not always within walking distance.

Character

Saraguay is a reasonably good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. There is a fair amount of greenery in this area as the tree canopy coverage for the majority of streets is reasonably good. There are a few parks close by for residents to visit, such as Parc-Nature du Bois-de-Saraguay, and they are very well-spread out, making it easy to get to them from many locations in the neighbourhood. This area is reasonably quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although that is not the case closer to one of the railway lines or Autoroute Chomedey.

Housing

Around 30% of properties in Saraguay were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of Montréal is an important part of its character. Roughly 95% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 5% are rented. Notably, this neighbourhood is good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes.
