Malden

Malden is a neighbourhood within Windsor, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Windsor metropolitan area.

Transportation

Malden is very car friendly. It is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 401, from anywhere in this area, and it is very easy to access a parking spot. In contrast, Malden is not a very pleasant part of Windsor for travelling by public transit. Nonetheless, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and it is easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. Malden is not very well-suited for walking since most daily needs are at times difficult to meet without the use of a car.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in Malden. Likewise, there are only a few daycares and therefore they can be an extended walk away. When it comes to eating, a vehicle is generally needed in Malden to access the nearest supermarket. There are a few choices for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes.

Character

There are a lot of green spaces to enjoy in Malden. Public green spaces, like Ojibway Prarie Provincial Nature Reserve and Tall Grass Heritage, are very well-situated and there are a few of them close by for residents to unwind in, making them very easy to access. It is relatively serene in this neighbourhood, since there are very few people out and about on the streets.

Housing

The homes in this part of the city are relatively new, since around one quarter of its dwellings were constructed between 1990 and 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing about 80% of buildings in this neighbourhood, but townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the dwellings in Malden and the rest are rented. This part of Windsor also has quite a good choice of housing sizes - there is a higher proportion of three bedroom homes in this neighbourhood.
