Transportation

Port Whitby is very car friendly. It is very convenient to park, and most homes for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 401. In contrast, Port Whitby is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, commuters benefit from the Whitby with access to the Lakeshore East. Homeowners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most houses. It is impractical for pedestrians to move around in this neighbourhood because few day-to-day needs can be met by walking. Despite the fact that the bicycling network is reasonably well-developed, the bike is a sometimes poor method of transportation in this part of Whitby since the area is not especially flat.

The nearest supermarket in Port Whitby is usually only a reasonably short walk away. A small variety of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.
