Situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Woodlands is a neighbourhood within Pickering, Ontario.

Transportation

Driving is a great transportation option in this neighbourhood. Nearby highways, such as Highway 401, are very easy to access from any home in Woodlands, and it is very easy to park. In contrast, the public transit service in Woodlands is somewhat poor. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is typically very close by. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of Pickering, even though many common errands can be run without a car. Getting around by bicycle is also challenging in Woodlands as there are few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of slopes for cyclists to brave. Nonetheless, bicycling is better in certain pockets than others.

Services

It is very convenient to reach the nearest grocery store without a vehicle from most homes for sale in this area. Furthermore, a coffee shop is often just around the corner, and a small selection of restaurants can be found in Woodlands as well. Regarding education, families will appreciate that wherever their home is situated in this neighbourhood, daycares and schools are nearby.

Character

There is a broad selection of green spaces in Woodlands. Although the neighbourhood is not home to any parks, green spaces are especially well-spread out in nearby neighbourhoods, which makes it easy to get to them. Lastly, this part of Pickering is relatively quiet, as there are few pedestrians, although noise levels are higher closer to Highway 401 or the railway line.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around 60% of dwellings in Woodlands, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
