Island Park is an extremely pleasant part of Ottawa for getting around by public transit as a consequence of many nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Pré Tunney, and about 40 nearby bus lines. Many people in the area use their bike since there are a fair number of bike lanes, and riding is made easier by the generally flat terrain.
