Northeast

The neighbourhood of Northeast can be found in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is usually the favoured approach to move around in this part of the city. It is very convenient to park, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 409, from anywhere in Northeast. The fairly good public transit infrastructure allows people to get to many destinations without needing a car owing to plenty of rapid transit stations with access to the Meadowvale Express, and approximately 20 nearby bus lines. The bike is a sometimes poor means of transportation in this part of the city because the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive. Thankfully, bicycling is more feasible in some areas than others, and there are a limited number of slopes. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Northeast, despite the fact that meeting daily needs is convenient.

Services

Parents and their kids will value that no matter where their house is situated in this area, daycares and schools are nearby. At the secondary level, there are both public and private schools. In terms of eating, property owners in Northeast will be pleased to learn that a grocery store is always only a rather short walk away. Likewise, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, for example on Eglinton Avenue, and a small variety of cafes is available as well.

Character

One of the highlights of Northeast is its great variety of green spaces. More specifically, there are about 30 parks nearby for residents to visit, including Red Oak Plain and Not Yet Named *(East of Creebank Rd Between Eglington and 401), which makes it very easy to access them. However, there are very few tree-lined streets. This area remains relatively quiet, as there are few people out and about on the streets, although those who are around Highway 410, Highway 403, the airport (Tarten Heliport) or one of the railway lines may experience more noise.

Housing

Nearly 105% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of this area is an important part of its character. Around half of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1980s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This part of the city has a good choice of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
