The neighbourhood of Rural Markham is part of the city of Markham, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of Markham is very car friendly. Coming across a place to park is quite easy. In contrast, public transit users may experience very limited choices in this part of the city due to the low service level. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood. Most homes for sale in this part of Markham are located in places that are not very suitable for walking as very few day-to-day needs can be met on foot. The bicycle is a fairly poor method of transportation in this area since there are very few bike lanes, and cyclists encounter quite a few elevation changes.

Services

There are only a very small number of primary schools in this neighbourhood and thus they can be a very long walk away. Likewise, Rural Markham does not have any high schools. Moreover, parents and their children may consider it very hard to reach daycares as a pedestrian. As far as food is concerned, house buyers in Rural Markham typically have to use a car to buy their groceries. A limited number of restaurants are available in this part of the city.

Character

Rural Markham is fairly good for those who prefer a quiet atmosphere, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially near Highway 407 or one of the railway lines. Parks are distributed sporadically, which results in them being rather difficult to access from most locations in this part of the city. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Most housing in this part of the city was built after the year 2000, during its biggest construction boom. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
