Transportation

Royal Orchard enables homeowners to move around by various means of transportation. Travelling on foot is feasible for property owners in this part of the city; most day-to-day needs are convenient to carry out by walking. On the other hand, Royal Orchard is not very conducive to biking since riding a bicycle is made strenuous by the often steep area, and the cycling infrastructure is not very extensive. Thanks to Yonge / Royal Orchard on the blue | VIVA BLUE, and a few nearby bus lines, this area is quite transit friendly. Cars are also an excellent transportation option in this neighbourhood. It is very easy to find a place to park, and it is a reasonably short car ride to the nearest highway from any home in Royal Orchard.

Character

The character of Royal Orchard is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. The noise levels in this part of the city are quite low, as the streets tend to be reasonably calm - although that is not the case closer to the railway line. Finally, green spaces are especially well-spread out and there are a few of them nearby for residents to check out, which results in them being easy to access from numerous locations within Royal Orchard.

Housing

In Royal Orchard, around half of dwellings are single detached homes, and the remaining houses are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. This neighbourhood experienced its most significant construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing is from this era. This part of Markham is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly three quarters of the units in the neighbourhood and renters occupy the remainder.
