Stoney Creek

Situated within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Stoney Creek is a former municipality in Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

The best approach to navigate Stoney Creek is usually driving. Many homes for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Red Hill Valley Parkway, and it is convenient to come across a place to park. However, Stoney Creek is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, the former municipality is served by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. It is occasionally challenging for pedestrians to navigate Stoney Creek as few daily needs can be carried out without a vehicle. Bicycling is also at times difficult in Stoney Creek because the cycling network is rather limited, and there are a good number of slopes.

Services

It is a reasonably short trip to access primary schools and daycares from most houses for sale in Stoney Creek. However, families may find it challenging to get to high schools without a car. At the primary level, there are both public and private schools. Regarding food, reaching one of approximately 10 grocery stores by foot is possible for some, but not all, property owners in this former municipality. A small variety of restaurants and coffee shops is available as well.

Character

Stoney Creek offers a calm atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. There are over 50 parks nearby for residents to unwind in, such as Heritage Green Sports Park and Valley Park, resulting in them being easy to access from most locations in the former municipality. The noise levels in this part of the city are also very low, as the streets are generally especially tranquil.

Housing

About 30% of homes in Stoney Creek were constructed following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing the majority of dwellings in this part of Hamilton, and the remaining properties are mainly large apartment buildings. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the units in Stoney Creek and renters occupy the remainder. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
