Casablanca & Area

Located within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Casablanca & Area is a neighbourhood in Grimsby, Ontario.

Transportation

The favoured approach to get around in this part of the town is very often driving. Accessing a parking spot is generally easy, and it is a short car ride to the closest highway, such as Queen Elizabeth Way, from any location in this part of the town. In contrast, the public transit system in this neighbourhood is quite bad. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines, and bus stops are not especially far away from most properties. A majority of the homes for sale in this part of the town are located in areas that are not very well-suited for walking as most day-to-day needs are inconvenient to carry out without the use of a car. Casablanca & Area is also not very cycling-friendly as there are a good number of elevation changes, and the bicycling network is not very comprehensive.

Services

There are only a few primary schools in Casablanca & Area and thus they can be a long walk away. Additionally, this part of Grimsby does not have any high schools. Moreover, daycares are not very abundant and thus tend to require a rather long walk to get to. In terms of food, accessing the closest grocery store on foot is possible for some, but not all, property owners in Casablanca & Area. A limited number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well.

Character

Casablanca & Area is reasonably quiet, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic - although that is not the case close to Queen Elizabeth Way or the railway line. Public green spaces are distributed sporadically, making it very hard to access them.

Housing

Roughly three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and one quarter are rented. Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around half of buildings in this part of Grimsby, whereas the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. The homes in this area are very new, since around two thirds of its dwellings were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s. This neighbourhood has a good variety of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
