The neighbourhood of Southdown is part of the city of Mississauga, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Southdown allows homeowners to travel using several means of transportation. The public transit service in Southdown is good as a result of Clarkson Go Station Platform 9 with access to the University Express, and a few nearby bus lines. A majority of the homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also reasonably convenient for walking; running common errands is easy. This part of the city is cycling-friendly since it is an even ride to most destinations, and Southdown is home to a reasonably good cycling infrastructure.

Services

Some, but not all, house buyers in Southdown will live within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. There are also a few options for those who appreciate close by restaurants and cafes. When it comes to education, in this part of the city, parents and their kids will generally be able to get to primary schools and daycares on foot. On the other hand, there are no high schools in Southdown.

Character

Southdown offers a wide selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy ambience. Reaching public green spaces, such as Harding Waterfront Estate and Bromsgrove Park, is very easy from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to discover. Due to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, this area is relatively quiet, although those who are closer to the railway line may experience more noise.

Housing

In Southdown, many dwellings are townhouses, but small apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This part of Mississauga is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around three quarters of the dwellings in Southdown and one quarter are rented. Most housing in this neighbourhood was built between 1960 and 1980, during its biggest construction boom.
